Hydroxycut Liver Damage

Bagolie Friedman Hydroxycut Injury Lawyers are reviewing potential lawsuits throughout the United States on behalf of users of the popular dietary supplement and weight-loss aid, which has been linked to a number of serious and potentially life threatening injuries.

At the time the recall on Hydroxycut was issued, the FDA indicated that they were aware of at least 23 reports of severe liver problems associated with the products. While most estimates suggest that FDA adverse event reports only reflect about 1% to 10% of all problems that actually occur, the reports of Hydroxycut liver damage could represent an even smaller fraction since it is a widely used over-the-counter product. Approximately 9 million people have used various Hydroxycut products, and reports suggest that liver damage not only surfaces while the diet pills are being taken, but could continue to occur for months after it is stopped.

Reports of Hydroxycut liver side effects have occurred among patients who were only taking the recommended doses and among those without any pre-existing medical conditions.

Problems have ranged from liver damage requiring an organ transplant to indicators of liver failure, such as elevated liver enzymes and jaundice. Potential signs of Hydroxycut liver problems could include:

  • Yellowing of the Skin or Whites of the Eyes
  • Brown Urine or Light Colored Stools
  • Stomach Pain, Nausea and Vomiting
  • Excessive Fatigue or Weakness
  • Itching
  • Loss of Appetite
