If you or someone you know was injured in the recent Amtrak train derailment in Philadelphia on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, please give us a call or contact us at Bagolie Friedman Accident Attorneys.

Relating to train accidents, such as the recent Amtrak crash, the law caps the total amount of “injury money” from rail-accident damages at $200 million.

This limit was established by Congress in 1997 on all rail accidents as part of a compromise to bail out the ailing railroad industry. The cap, which is an arbitrary figure, was imposed regardless of the number of victims or how horrific the accident, according to Executive Director, Joanne Doroshow, of New York Law School’s Center for Justice & Democracy.
